Wandering through the woods, I came upon a quiet, swampy hollow—the kind of place most would pass without a second glance. But in the stillness, textures revealed themselves: reeds bending in reflection, the water’s surface shifting like stained glass beneath a faint breeze.
Then I saw it—a single shrub growing from the bank, burning with color against the muted greens and browns around it. Its golds and ambers shimmered in the water, a thousand tiny puzzle pieces cast upon the surface.
In my journal that evening, I wrote: “This is God’s altar.” The beauty and color moved me in a way words can hardly hold. It wasn’t just a study in light—it was a quiet reminder of grace, hidden in the most ordinary corner of the woods.
