The Northwoods hold their secrets well. Old logging roads wind deep into the forest, long after the saws have fallen silent. They rise and dip through the hills and valleys—places the great trees once guarded, now open to the sky.
Every turn invites wonder. A shaft of light, a rustle in the brush, a glimpse of deer threading the shadows. And sometimes—if you’re lucky—a hidden lake reveals itself. Still, untouched, as if it’s been waiting all these years for someone to notice.
Up on a ridge, I paused to take it in—the way light dances off the land, the hush that settles over everything. In that moment, I felt small, humbled, and deeply connected to something far older than myself.
This painting is my attempt to hold that silence—to share the quiet astonishment of finding beauty where the road runs out.
