Let me share something personal with you—I’ve always found writing to be a bit of a struggle, especially with my dyslexia. It’s been a challenge over the years, but thankfully, practice has helped me improve.

When working in Chicago, I was lucky enough to collaborate with some truly gifted copywriters. They had this incredible ability to turn out fantastic marketing copy in just a few minutes. Meanwhile, for me, writing something like a heartfelt sympathy card could take what felt like forever. I always know the message I want to get across; it’s just that finding the right words doesn’t always come as fast as I liked.

Working with art leagues and artists, I’ve realized I’m not the only artist alone in facing the challenge of writing. If you’ve ever looked at fine artists’ websites, it’s clear—while the visuals are stunning, the copy is often lacking. If you want to communicate your artistic vision and be easily found online, crafting clear, searchable words is just as important as creating art.

Over the past year, I’ve learned a few things, and I just have to share one that’s been a real game-changer. I started experimenting with ChatGPT, and let me tell you, it’s completely transformed the way I approach writing. What used to take me a couple of hours now only takes minutes. I create a prompt, let ChatGPT do its thing—which takes about 10 seconds—and then I fine-tune the results. Hours of work have been reduced to just 15 or 20 minutes. Now, I’m left wondering—what could you do with all that extra time?
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF CHATGPT!
Have you ever wished you could have a free assistant that effortlessly handles your daily tasks, writes your emails, generates recipes, and even helps you manage your art business? Well, with ChatGPT, that wish just came true!

Whether you’re a first-time user or looking to explore the tool’s potential, you’ll soon see how simple and convenient it is to incorporate ChatGPT into your daily life. Whether you need help drafting an email, creating a recipe from random ingredients, or writing a heartfelt sympathy note, ChatGPT is here to make your tasks quicker, easier, and fun.

All you have to do is sign up at https://chatgpt.com for your free account. It’s simple:
  1. Create a free account.
  2. Verify your email.
  3. Yyou’re all set. Now you're ready to dive in and have some fun

WHAT IS CHATGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI-powered assistant designed to help you with a wide variety of tasks. It's like having a helpful assistant at your fingertips—ready to provide ideas, answer questions, and simplify everyday challenges. Whether you’re writing, brainstorming, or just need inspiration, ChatGPT is here to lend a hand.

HOW CHATGPT WORKS
Using ChatGPT is simple. You start by asking a question or giving a prompt, and the AI responds with useful information or suggestions. Here’s how it works:
  1. Type your request: Enter a question, idea, or request like you would talk to a friend.
  2. Receive a response: ChatGPT will reply with detailed suggestions, information, or answers to your request.
  3. Refine as needed: If you need more specific information or clarity, just ask follow-up questions, and ChatGPT will tailor the response.

START WITH EVERYDAY EXERCISES
FOR FIRST-TIME USERS!
Starting with these everyday activities is a fantastic way to get to know this amazing technology. Let’s dive into some real-world examples and see how ChatGPT can quickly become your go-to helper! Once you’re comfortable, I’ll show you how it can assist with tasks for your art business, whether crafting your artist statement, coming up with creative painting titles, or organizing a detailed plein air trip.

Let’s look at some real-life examples where ChatGPT can make things easier. These exercises will help you get comfortable with ChatGPT in a variety of situations.

EXERCISE 1:
WRITING AN EMAIL

We’ve all been there—staring at a blank email, wondering how to start or organize our thoughts. ChatGPT can make this process quick and painless. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to help you write a formal email, a follow-up, or a casual note.

Prompt Example: "Can you help me write an email to a colleague, thanking them for their help on a recent project?"
ChatGPT Response Example: "Sure! Here’s a suggestion:
Subject: Thank You for Your Help on [Project Name]
Hi [Colleague’s Name],
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all your help with [specific task/project]. Your dedication and expertise were instrumental in getting everything done smoothly. I’ve learned a lot from working with you, and I look forward to collaborating on future projects.

Thanks again!
Best,
[Your Name]"

With just a simple prompt, ChatGPT can save you time and help you craft a polished message.

EXERCISE 2:
WHAT CAN I MAKE WITH THESE INGREDIENTS?

This is a fun one. I play with this in the evening while watching TV. Sometimes, you open the fridge and think, "I have five random ingredients—what can I possibly cook?" ChatGPT can be your personal chef in moments like this, offering creative recipe ideas.

Prompt Example: "I have eggs, spinach, cheese, onions, and tomatoes in my fridge. What can I make?"
ChatGPT Response Example: "With those ingredients, you could make a delicious spinach and cheese omelette with sautéed onions and tomatoes on the side! Here’s a quick recipe:
  1. Whisk the eggs and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Sauté the onions and tomatoes in a pan with a little olive oil.
  3. Add the spinach and cook until wilted.
  4. Pour the egg mixture into the pan and cook until the edges set.
  5. Sprinkle cheese on top and fold the omelette. Serve with the sautéed vegetables on the side.
Enjoy your quick and easy meal!"

In just a few seconds, you’ve got a tasty recipe idea based on what’s in your fridge—no cookbooks or food apps required.

EXERCISE 3:
WRITING A SYMPATHY NOTE

One of the most challenging types of writing is creating a heartfelt sympathy note. ChatGPT can guide you in writing something meaningful and respectful, even if you’re unsure how to start.

Prompt Example: "Can you help me write a sympathy note for a friend who recently lost a loved one?"
ChatGPT Response Example: "Of course, here’s a suggestion:
Dear [Friend’s Name],
I was so sorry to hear about your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. Please know that I am thinking of you and sending all my love. If there’s anything I can do to support you, whether it’s a phone call or just spending time together, I’m here for you.
With deepest sympathy,
[Your Name]"
ChatGPT can help you express empathy when words are hard to find, creating a personal and caring message.

OTHER USEFUL EVERYDAY PROMPTS
Besides writing emails, recipes, and sympathy notes, here are a few more ways ChatGPT can make your life easier:
  • Brainstorming ideas: Whether for a work project or personal hobby, ChatGPT can help generate creative ideas.
    • Prompt Example: "Can you help me brainstorm ideas for a blog post about summer activities for kids?”
  • Making lists: Get ChatGPT to help you organize a to-do list, grocery list, or packing list.
    • Prompt Example: "Can you create a packing list for a weekend camping trip?”
  • Getting quick facts: Need quick information about something you’re not sure of? Ask ChatGPT!
    • Prompt Example: "Can you explain what the greenhouse effect is in simple terms?"

WHY CHATGPT IS EASY TO USE
The best part of ChatGPT is how accessible and user-friendly it is. Whether you’re tech-savvy or just dipping your toes into AI, it doesn’t require any special knowledge to get started. Here’s why:
  1. No special setup: You don’t need to download anything special—just type in your request and get a response.
  2. Conversational style: ChatGPT responds in a natural, easy-to-understand way, so it feels like talking to a friend.
  3. Immediate feedback: You get answers in real-time, making it a handy tool for when you need quick assistance.
  4. Adaptable: Whether you need casual help, professional advice, or creative ideas, ChatGPT can adjust its tone and style to meet your needs.

TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF CHATGPT
Here are a few tips to maximize your experience:
  • Be clear and specific: The more detailed your prompt, the more tailored the response.
  • Ask follow-up questions: If the first answer isn’t exactly what you need, you can refine your request.
  • Don’t be afraid to experiment: Play around with different requests, and you’ll discover more ways ChatGPT can be helpful. Remember you can't break ChatGPT.

HOT TIP
One of the things I love about ChatGPT is how you can really tailor it to fit your unique style. If you’re looking to add a little extra personality to your writing, let me show you a fun way to do it. In your prompt, simply tell ChatGPT you’d like the information in a specific voice. You can choose someone like Martha Stewart for that refined, polished touch, Dr. Seuss for a playful twist, Maya Angelou for heartfelt messages (she’s perfect for writing sympathy notes), or even Robert Frost if you’re feeling poetic.

You’ve got endless possibilities right at your fingertips—just a prompt away!
