The Mainstreet Art Center is a school of fine art offering classes in drawing and painting for artists of all ages and levels of experience. Open since 1994, Mainstreet attracts students from all over the Chicagoland area, Rockford and southern Wisconsin. Their instructors have professional careers as artists, exhibit in galleries throughout the country, teach workshops and appear in artists publications. Watercolor Mainstreet Art Center with Dale Popovich Starts March 5 - April 23, 2014 Wedneday 10:00 - 12:30 $175.00 8 weeks Thank you Illiana Artists for inviting me to demo last Monday night. I was happy to see a great turnout even though the weather has been questionable.
My demo was taking a fall scene and changing the season to a winter, snow painting. I walked the group through my thought process, techniques and and when to stop. I talked about temperature conversion to a winter scene, adjustment of values and changing your light source. I'm a big believer in utilizing the photo reference as a starting point -- it's a tool. You are not a slave to the photo, but using your imagination to create your finished product. This will give you a unique and rewarding experience.
